Black and white, loose and tight. It was all about contrasts in Sonja Jocić’s latest show at this year’s Belgrade Fashion Week.

Non-traditional cuts and materials made the use of colors redundant. The collection was a perfect mix between coolness and elegance where draped and layered pieces played the leading part.

“The Lucid Dream” the young fashion designer named her collection and it sure was influenced by her current MA study “Dream / Awake”– an exploration of reflection, repetition and extension of garments. Translucent tops and coats left just as much space for imagination as did the layered skirts and jackets.

The Serbian designer perfectly mastered the game of combining various unconventional garments into extraordinary pieces of clothing. Wool, leather, several different translucent materials; nothing was left out. A true highlight of her SS15 collection was an all-in-black costume composed of an asymmetrical coat and a pair of Marlene Dietrich-style pants.

Sonja Jocić, born in Belgrade, Serbia obtained her Bachelor’s degree specialized in fashion design, at The College of Textile Design, Technology and Management before leaving to Sweden where she is currently doing Master degree in Fashion Design.
