Serbian fashion designer’s urban minimalism

There was something cathartic about Jovana Markovic’s autumn proposal – weather it was the tenderness of a white silk slip dress or a subtle sparkly touch of the extra terrestrial, we cannot say for sure. What can be stated with certainty, however, is that Jovana Markovic knows how to operate with minimalism.

Throughout the collection, the Serbian fashion designer dances with various trends and gives them a new idiosyncratic identity, keeping it artistic and wearable, all at the same time.

Inspired by geometry, Markovic was all about the clean lines and a simple color palette. Accordingly, came the rich-structured, iced-blue winter coat, tailored pantsuit and a delicate, long trench coat that oozed sophistication.

Be not mistaken, for Markovic’s sophistication comes along with a whole lotta edge. Choker necklaces and the Rihanna-esque, subtly bleached bomber jacket were on point with the 90s trend, while bulky hoodies and white-socks-and-sandals combo spiced the collection with sporty flavors.

The looks were completed with sleek hair and dramatic make-up, completing the Serbian fashion designer’s trendy fusion.

Born and based in Belgrade, Jovana Markovic has carefully curated her career. In 2007, she presented her first collection at the Belgrade Fashion Week and has been a regular presenter ever since.

This Serbian fashion designer is a winner of numerous awards, including Textil Young designer award and ELLE Fashion award. Attire with Markovic’s signature is now available in Resort Design Store in Belgrade and via Not Just A Label online store.
