Ode to Individualism at Belgrade Fashion Week

After ten years of her work in fashion, we can say one thing for sure. — there is a world of Ana Ljubinkovic. You can’t quite tame it, nor define it. You can only catch the glimpses of its idiosyncratic entirety.

It’s the world where woven deer prints dance with tight metallic minis. The world where Jesus-embellished box clutch bag and curtain pendants make legitimate fashion accessories. It is the world where sweet childhood innocence collides with sexuality, and it’s called The Cloudwalker.

With this latest proposal on the Belgrade Fashion Week, Ljubinkovic declared a war on minimalism, once more. Accordingly came a white lacquered strapless dress with traditional-motived embroidery, a silk-satin, pearl-embellished dress and a structured micro bodysuit with framed tapestry hanging from it as if it were a wall.

Imaginarium this wild is deeply rooted in her artisan origins, but it’s her tailoring skills that define her couturier status. With cautiously sculpted pieces and hand-made embroidery, Ljubinkovic proves that she’s not playing, but making a serious fashion statement.

And what better time to make such statement than now? Just when minimalism and normcore took over the global fashion scene, designers like Gucci’s Alessandro Michele started a new fashion wave of hyperbolized individualism. And Ana Ljubinkovic is now in this team as well!

Ana Ljubinkovic is an established Serbian fashion designer and a regular presenter on the Belgrade Fashion Week. Her unique signature was recognized beyond the borders of Serbia numerous times. This year, she presented her Spring/Summer 2016 collection on London Fashion Week in collaboration with UK’s Fashion Scout. She received many awards for her work and one of them is Serbian Bazar’s Mara Kranjc award for her collection Cloudwalker.
